Production Architecture

A production deployment can consist of a CDN or edge layer, API gateway, horizontally scaled Node.js instances, Redis, PostgreSQL or MongoDB, object storage, a message queue, background workers, an observability platform, and external identity providers.

The API should remain stateless at the application-instance layer. Shared state belongs in durable or distributed infrastructure.

Design for partial failure: databases can become slow, queues can grow, external services can time out, clients can retry, and duplicate webhooks can arrive.
