Location Ingestion, Dispatch, and Assignment Correctness
A location service ingests frequent updates, rejects stale or implausible points, and maintains a queryable recent-location view. Coalesce redundant updates when appropriate and rate-limit abusive clients so location traffic does not overwhelm matching or storage.
Dispatch matching combines distance with availability, vehicle type, service zone, capacity, and fairness. The nearest candidate is not necessarily eligible. Reserve assignments atomically so two dispatch workers cannot assign the same driver or job.
Partition by geography or cell when it improves locality, but monitor dense-city hotspots and skew. Track location age, ingestion lag, match latency, assignment conflicts, and fallback behavior when a spatial index is unavailable.
- Matching is a constrained optimization, not just nearest-neighbor search.
- Assignment requires atomic ownership or reservation.
- Measure freshness and geographic hotspots.
